The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
